Halloween is in the air, full of ghosts, goblins and ghoulies. So we dare you to watch as many spooky, suspenseful and fun Halloween-themed movies as your sensibilities can endure on us! That’s right, admission will be free!

In association with the historic CLIFTEX Theatre, the newly-established BOSQUE FILM SOCIETY proudly announces its first themed film festival — the HALLOWEEN FREE FILM FEST featuring six different spooky and fun films over four days Oct. 28-31. In addition to the film presentations, special activities will also be offered, such as a Halloween costume contest, raffles, sing-a-longs and the premiere of the Bosque Film Society-produced short film, GAL MANNS SKRIK (Norwegian for “Madman’s Scream”).

The HALLOWEEN FREE FILM FEST schedule for the feature films will be: “Classic Horror Thursday,” Oct 28, FRANKENSTEIN (1931) 7 p.m.; “Freaky Family Friday,” Oct. 29, GOONIES (1985) 4 p.m.; BEETLEJUICE (1988) 7 p.m.; “Spooky Animated Saturday,” Oct. 30, CASPER (1995) 4 p.m.; MONSTER HOUSE (2006) 7 p.m.; “Out Of This World Sunday,” Oct. 31, E.T THE EXTRATERRESTRIAL (1982) 7 p.m.

Shiver at the sight of Frankenstein’s monster. Blatantly say Beetlejuice’s name three times. Dare to enter that underground cave or haunted house. Be a zombie as you sing along to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. And we dare you to show up in your Halloween costume to the Sunday showing of ET: The Extraterrestrial – who knows, there might be Reese’s Pieces to be had and a prize to win.

Although admission will be FREE to the public courtesy of the BOSQUE FILM SOCIETY, seating will be limited on a first-come, first serve basis. Please stay tuned for more details leading up the event. See you at the movies – the scary, spooky, spine-chilling kind!

Established in October 2020, the Bosque Film Society is a non-profit organization focused on promoting film appreciation, education and production in Bosque County, Texas while serving as the “Friends of The Cliftex Theatre,” the longest continuously-operating movie theater in Texas, showing movies on the big screen since 1916.
