5. OLD BUSINESS – Discussion and possible action concerning:

a. Delay in plans for a membership drive – BV apologizes for the delay and explains why.

i. Launch membership drive on July 1 / promote membership on Facebook. There will be an option for supporting, non- active members through a “patron program.”

ii. Ideas for first Bosque Film Society sponsored event at the Cliftex – BV requests the board members to offer ideas for the first BFS event.

b. Nominating Samuel French to fill final open board member slot – As a working actor locally-born, would be a valued member. Due to a busy travel schedule, waive participation requirement. BV motions, seconded by BD, all approve. At present, Samuel has a role in Martin Scorcese’s next film based on David Grann’s best-selling book, “Killers of the Flower Moon” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeDiro, which takes place in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts a string of brutal murders of Osage Nation Native Americans, which came to be known as the Reign of Terror. The Osage Nation, who were the richest people per capita in the world, were killed one by one after oil was discovered on their land and the newly-created FBI moved in to investigate one of the most monstrous crimes in U.S. history. Samuel plays the role of an FBI agent under the direction of the agent-in-charge played by Jesse Plemons.

6. NEW BUSINESS –

Discussion and possible action concerning:

a. Updating BosqueFilm.com website for official launch and membership drive by July 1. Matt W will host a webinar with participating BFS board members about populating the website.

b. Possible alternative board meeting sites for non-film presentation meetings – AS offers the Clifton Civic Center would be a good alternative for non-movie meetings, especially if the Cliftex is rented out.

c. Report on The Cliftex Theatre attendance/issues – RM informs the board that ticket sales are doing well considering, but are still not at the pre-COVID level. The theater is doing well with 2-4 private rentals per week.

d. Potential new projects – BV requests board member input about new projects.

  • Matt W suggests that when there are enough paying members, to pay the Cliftex for use of the facility during board meeting/film evenings.
  • AS suggests the Oct. 16 Fall Fest as a fundraiser/membership drive opportunity for a BFS booth. She mentions the possibility of some celebrity guests being present through Armadillo Prints.
  • BV offers inviting guests to speak at meetings. He has a former student, actor Jeremy Lawson who would be willing to do so. BD also has suggestions.
