Hosting a special showing of Martin Scorsese’s masterpiece “Killers of the Flower Moon” this Sunday, the Bosque Film Society and The Cliftex Theatre will roll out the red carpet for Clifton actor Samuel French with a Meet-and-Greet as well as a Q&A with the actor held by Brett Voss and Matt Wallace.
The special screening of the Red Carpet Matinee will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29 with tickets costing $5 each. Be sure to come early to meet our very own star Samuel French, and take a photo with him in front of the red carpet backdrop in the historic Cliftex Theatre, the longest continuously running movie house in Texas, showing motion pictures on the silver screen since 1916.
Martin Scorsese’s period epic “Killers of the Flower Moon” delivers an astonishing true story saga about the real-life atrocities carried out against the Osage Nation in the 1920s. As a revisionist western crime drama based on the 2017 book by David Grann, the film examines a series of Oklahoma murders in the Osage Nation during the 1920s, committed after oil was discovered on tribal land
Despite running 206 minutes long, the film offers a well-paced saga with a decidedly uncomfortable and sinister mood as we watch greedy white men systematically murder prominent Osage figures for their oil money with little reprisal.
It’s a film built on strong, layered performances from Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons. But it also features a number of character actors in smaller roles who have only a few minutes of screen time, such as Brendan Fraser, John Lithgow, Barry Corbin, Jason Isbell and Jack White, just to name a few.
Among this impressive list of character actors emerges Clifton’s own Samuel French, featured in a one-on-one scene with the legendary Academy Award winning actor Robert DeNiro.
