Following our month board meeting Tuesday, August 9 at 5:30 p.m., the Bosque Film Society cordially invites all members to attend its members-only FILM APPRECIATION NIGHT featuring Bob Fosse’s 1979 musical drama/fantasy ALL THAT JAZZ at 6:30 p.m. at The Cliftex Theatre in Clifton with an introductory presentation by Bosque Film Society founding vice president Angela Smith.

ALL THAT JAZZ is a 1979 American musical drama film directed by Bob Fosse, starring Roy Scheider, Jessica Lange and Ben Vereen. The screenplay, by Robert Alan Aurthur and Fosse, is a semi-autobiographical fantasy based on aspects of Fosse’s life and career as a dancer, choreographer and director.

The film won the Palme d’Or at the 1980 Cannes Film Festival. At the 52nd Academy Awards, it was nominated for nine Oscars, winning four: Best Original Score, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, and Best Film Editing.

Upon release in 1979, director Stanley Kubrick, who is mentioned in the movie, reportedly called it “[the] best film I think I have ever seen.” In 2001, ALL THAT JAZZ was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
