Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, November 10, 2020, 5:30 p.m.
CLIFTEX Theatre, 306 West 5th Street, Clifton, TX 76634
Attendees: Bill Calhoun, Bryan Davis, Nathan Diebenow, Will Godby, Megan Major, Richard Major, Angela Smith, Brett Voss, Simone Voss, Matt Wallace, Miriam Wallace.
Brett Voss called the meeting to order at 5:38 p.m. followed by a review and approval of the October 2020 meeting’s minutes. The Majors introduced two guests from Whitney, Texas: Terry and Charles.
The members present by unanimous vote approved Miriam Wallace as the temporary interim treasurer of the Bosque Film Society.
In Old Business, B. Voss led the members in a discussion about the location, date, start time, and length of future regular meetings. By consensus, the group deciding to keep the Second Tuesday of the month for the next four months (until March 2021) at the CLIFTEX Theatre.
The group further discussed establishing either a high or low annual membership fee, a fixed or flexible membership cap, as well as other “soft” and “hard” perks and benefits for charter and future members. After a lengthy discussion, the group decided to revisit the topics of membership, a membership drive, and other fundraising ideas at the March 2021 meeting. In the meantime, B. Voss said he would research the filing fees associated with incorporating a nonprofit in Texas. He also noted a anonymous person volunteered to donated $1,000 to help incorporate the nonprofit.
In New Business, B. Voss led discussions about establishing social media and online presences as well as their content guidelines for the Bosque Film Society. The group agreed the Film Society should have a Facebook page and retrofit the BosqueFilm.com site to showcase the mission, history, activities, and events important to the members as well as the overall film culture in Bosque County. Content for these online web presences will come from the board members.
R. Major reported on revised plans to re-open the CLIFTEX Theatre. Due to light renovations and the Majors’ limited time frame, the new plan is to re-open the theatre before the end of the year with a low-key movie screening. The film has yet to be determined, he said. The Film Society can still hold its own screening at the theatre in December 2020, which the group discussed.
The meeting adjourned at 7:37 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at the CLIFTEX Theatre in Clifton.
